The short version
pad3l has no accounts. We never ask for your email address, phone number or a password. We store the name you type and the scores of the games you play, so the board, the phones and the league tables can show them.
Who we are
pad3l is made by Isaac Baldwin, who is responsible for your data under UK GDPR (the data controller). Contact: hello@pad3l.app.
What we store
- The name you join a session with, and the emoji you pick, if any.
- Each session: its code, format, settings, players, points and final standings.
- League results, ratings, the trophies earned in each session and the title you choose to show.
Names are matched across sessions so the league table and player pages add up. Anyone with the session code, and anyone who opens a league page, can see the names and scores in it. Sessions in progress are listed under Live now in the app, so others can follow the score.
On your device
The app and the browser version keep your name and the sessions you joined on your device, so you do not have to type them again. Deleting the app or clearing the site data removes them.
The camera
The app asks for the camera only to scan a session's QR code. Nothing the camera sees is saved or sent anywhere.
This website
pad3l.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. Our host keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, to keep the service secure and working.
Where it is kept
Scores and names are stored with Supabase in the European Union (Ireland). The app and this website are served by Vercel. Both act for us as processors and do not use the data for anything else.
Why we use it
We use this data to run the service you asked for: scoring games, sharing the score with the other players, and keeping league tables. Under UK GDPR this is our legitimate interest in providing pad3l.
How long we keep it
Session and league results are kept while the league or player page exists, so the history stays complete. Ask us and we will remove or rename you.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. Email hello@pad3l.app with the name you played under and the league, and we will reply within a month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
